Sr. DevOps & Cloud Engineer

Job Description

Responsibilities:

* Contributing to the design and implementation of secure, highly available and highly scalable solutions
* Advising and assisting internal product teams in best practices for cloud deployment
* Design and develop tooling, automation and services to enable product teams to Deploy, Support, Maintain, Develop, Test and Document their solutions
* Participate in the Scrum process as a member of a team
* Analyse existing solutions, presenting proposals for improvements and alternate strategies
* Maintain an up-to date knowledge of recent industry developments, trends and best practices

Qualifications:

* An active interest in new and upcoming software engineering technologies and practices
* Linux/Unix Administration (Primarily Ubuntu)
* Ability to explain technical ideas and concepts
* Extensive understanding of best practices and IT operations
* A solid understanding of networking and core Internet protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP)
* In depth understanding of Cloud technologies, in particular AWS Services and tools (Cloud Formation, EC2, S3, Glacier, VPC, AWS CLI, Boto3 etc.)
* Familiarity with configuration management software, preferably SaltStack
* Use of the Git version control system
* Familiarity with the use and configuration of CI & CD pipelines, such as Jenkins & AWS CodePipeline
* Knowledge of High Availability, Scalable and Distributed Systems, familiar with quorums, leader election and limitations of CAP
* Understanding of fundamental databases concepts for both relational and 'NoSQL' type persistence stores
* Extensive experience with Python & Bash
* Experience working with and building RESTful APIs
* An interest in Full Stack software engineering
