Overview

The Senior Database Administrator position will be responsible for the management of databases in all stages of production, database maintenance activities, troubleshooting database-related issues, monitoring of database capacity and performance, provision of technical expertise on database design, configuration of database servers. The Senior DBA will also manage database operations to ensure that application systems are operational and secure. The role supervises implementation of best practices for the management of databases including the adherence to policies and procedures to ensure system integrity and performance.

Responsibilities The role collaborates with various levels/staff to evaluate, recommend, and analyze processes and solutions to support business requirements and the goals of the company. Effectively manage day-to-day database operations and routine maintenance (e.g., release deployments, patching, backups, purges, etc.) The person will also remain current on industry trends as it relates to database technology and find ways to implement new technology to improve processing capabilities and data quality. This person will also develop and motivate the database administration team, evaluating and strengthening the team and enhance functional capabilities to meet strategic and operating objectives. Standard DBA tasks such as monitoring SQL server, backups, security, and writing/updating scripts are also expected of this position. Deliver project deliverables in engineering and support to various teams. Identify and lead the setting and exercising of data management standards and procedures for effective DBMS utilization and security Maintain top quality technical skills in a broad range of DBMSs, products, utilities, protocols, and techniques Provide highly responsive engagement for 24 x 7 support on premise and while in rotating on-call schedules Demonstrate the ability to operate as the primary resource on a project through planning, resource allocation, conflict resolution, project negotiation, and reporting. Manage and adhere to systems development life cycle processes and best practices. Identify and recommend solutions for opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness through understanding internal processes and procedures Communicate effectively to all levels within the organization as well as directly with customers on projects and/or issues with production systems Administer database backups and develop disaster recovery procedures as needed Formulate and recommend technical direction for database-related activities for the project teams in collaboration with other IT organizations. Write complex SQL Queries and Procedures, and monitor performance and tuning using SQL Profiler. Design, implement, and maintain multiple SQL Server databases. Monitors systems and subsystems in all environments, and proactively addresses issues. Collaborate with the Product and Development Teams on design and review of Technical Specification Documents as it relates to Database Architecture. Provide highly responsive engagement for 24 x 7 support on premise Qualifications 5+ years of relevant Sql Server experience 5+ years of relevant Replication experience (transactional/log shipping) 5+ years of SSRS experience 5+ years of SSIS experience Strong preference for someone with experience in EZ-CAP, EZ-NET, & EZ-EDI. Strong preference for someone with experience managing databases specific to healthcare Experience with MS SQL Server 2012 or higher Experience with VLDB environments
