POSITION SUMMARY

Work under Aetna's Clinical Analytics Team to create cutting edge analytic tools to drive better and faster decision making within the organization. We use an industry leading, scalable data platform and tools to glean insights from Aetna's large array of data sources, including medical claims, prescriptions, demographics, and surveys. From these insights and understanding of the business needs, lead and participate in the design and evaluation of innovative clinical initiatives and programs to improve members health and lower costs.

The Senior Data Scientist will extract and manipulate data from multiple large data sources, design and execute statistical and machine learning analyses to identify opportunities to improve our members lives and present her / his work to technical and non-technical stakeholders. The work environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and iterative, requiring quick learning, adaptability, and creativity. You would be part of an expanding team, with plenty of opportunities to interact with project stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Fundamental Components:

* Responsible for independently leading, analyzing and presenting high quality health care related clinical analytics projects.
* Identify and utilize appropriate mathematical and statistical approaches to understand and address the business need.
* Develop and use algorithms and statistical predictive models to determine analytical approaches and modeling techniques to evaluate scenarios and potential future outcomes.
* Collaborate with business partners to understand their problems and goals, solve business questions, and help them to achieve goals by performing statistical analysis, developing data reports and performance metrics.
* Responsible for developing and participating in presentations and consultations to existing and prospective constituents on analytics results and solutions.
* Interact with internal and external peers and managers to exchange complex information related to areas of specialization.
* Work with algorithms and predictive models to investigate problems, detect patterns and recommend solutions.
* Use programming skills to explore, examine and interpret large volumes of data in various forms.
* Communicate technical concepts and implications clearly to business partners.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

* Masters degree in Statistics, Informatics, Health Care Management or related analytic field.
* Minimum 3-5 years of healthcare industry experience in an analytical role working with health care data, systems and standards.
* Must have experience with mathematical analysis methods; stratification; and statistical analyses.
* Must have experience using R or Python to manipulate large datasets and develop statistical models; and Business intelligence tools to develop insights. Must also have experience with data engineering; data visualization; and SQL.

EDUCATION

Bachelors degreerequired, Masters a plus
