Description: The Data and ETL Developer will join the Chubb Claims IT team which focuses on mission critical applications that support claim adjusters and other claim professionals in Chubb's Claims Department, world-renowned for outstanding customer service. The Sr. Developer role will guide and work closely with a team of development resources to analyze, design, construct and test software development projects focused on analytics and data integration. This position will require a high degree of collaboration and detailed communication within and across multiple teams working closely with business, IT architecture and outsourced technical teams. Included in the job are opportunities to:

* Assume a Sr. technical delivery position working on complex software development efforts and maintenance support

Responsibilities Include:

* Plan and coordinate data-focused development efforts with Business Partners, Project Managers, Architecture Teams and Developers
* Provide hands-on technical delivery and guide development teams consisting of both on and offshore developers
* Formulate, design and develop solutions based on business requirements and application roadmap aligning with architectural direction
* Lead and implement assignments independently as a hands-on expert by providing technical and business expertise on key projects and enhancements
* Gather and analyze business and technical requirements and recommend solutions to meet functional requirements to support business needs
* Work with business partners and technical architects to develop strategic, cost-effective solutions to meet business needs and ensure programs meet standards and technical specifications
* Accountable to size / estimate development work, establish plans for execution and conduct/facilitate design and code reviews
* Effectively communicate project status and assist Project Managers in the timely and accurate measurement of overall project health
* Identify and quantify risks; make recommendations for risk mitigation and contingency plans
* Assist with issue identification, tracking and resolution
* Responsible for ensuring adherence of all deliverables to appropriate standards and quality levels
* Troubleshoot and support production processes to meet daily SLA's
* Collaborate with DBA's to address data design and processing requirements / issues

Technical Skills / Experience:

* Minimum 5 years of experience working with logical & physical normalized and denormalized data models & documentation (i.e. table & column definitions, relationships, keys (primary, foreign, surrogate), referential integrity). Ability to apply this information to effectively develop solutions, analyze data and research data issues.
* Understand high level data & process flow designs and reference data architectures
* Significant experience writing complex and effective SQL queries including the use of inner/outer joins, sub-selects, aggregates, basic/advanced functions, views, cursor processing and various other database programming techniques
* Robust data analysis skills. Ability to gain an understanding of existing data, effectively communicate findings, and make recommendations that address business needs
* Strong database knowledge around table maintenance, run stats, reorg, indexing (various types), SQL performance tuning, etc.
* Experience working with large data volumes and complex systems. Good understanding of how to avoid database locks, contention and minimize database threads.
* Experience with ETL audit, balance, control and restart best practices
* Minimum 5 years of experience developing with ETL and Data Virtualization toolsets, specifically Informatica PowerCenter on a UNIX Platform and/or ICS/IICS
* Advance PowerCenter Transformation experience (effective usage of parameters, variables, SQ overrides, pushdown optimization, lookups and caching with performance considerations)
* Hands-on Mapplet and Worklet creation, usage and declared benefit
* Experienced in a Shared Development environment without versioned repositiories
* Reusability of developed code and shared objects
* Extensive UNIX scripting experience, including PowerCenter Pre/Post Session commands (file list, etc…)
* Minimum 5 years of SQL experience in Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and/or DB2
* Proficient in learning new technologies with the ability to quickly understand capabilities and work with others to guide these into development
* Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or similar technical degree, or equivalent Information Technology work experience

Other Skills / Experience:

* Demonstrated Technical delivery with the ability to lead other developers by example through the complete SDLC of a project
* Experience with Agile and / or like methodologies
* Proven ability to produce results in the analysis, design, construction, testing and deployment of applications
