POSITION SUMMARY:

Currently, the Financial Management Group: Business Analytics department is seeking a self-motivated, versatile Sr. Business Systems Analyst to be located in Dallas, TX. The Sr. Business Systems Analyst works independently, analyzes and solves complex operational, administrative, systems-related, and/or customer issues with and for department management and staff. Recommends, designs and leads the implementation of technical solutions to solve business problems and to increase business process efficiency. Produces effective written recommendations, proposals, use cases and other documents to communicate analysis and solutions. Identifies, prepares and delivers meaningful management information in connection both with ongoing business operations and changes. Makes presentations to management, coordinates small projects under direct supervision and contributes to task forces or project teams. This role requires in-depth knowledge and experience. Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services. Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions. Works independently, receives minimal guidance. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Acts as a liaison between the IT development group and business units for the development and implementation of new systems and enhancement of existing systems. Evaluates new applications and identifies systems requirements. Evaluates new IT developments and evolving business requirements, and recommends appropriate systems alternatives and/or enhancements to current systems. Prepares communications and makes presentations on system enhancements and/or alternatives.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Observes or interviews department staff members to understand information and process support needs; seeks out, studies, and incorporates existing requirements, relevant policies, procedures, standards, and guidance relevant to the assignment.
* Analyzes information gathered and plans, writes and delivers assessments, proposals, training, and general communications to internal audiences at all levels in the department. May review results prepared by junior analysts
* Specifies and designs electronic data collection, reporting and processing tools, primarily using Microsoft Office components, including Sharepoint, and other end user technologies with a focus on providing or processing analytical, status reporting and decision support information. Gives demonstrations of solutions to staff.
* Gathers and documents business requirements for software development projects. Prepares use cases, UI design artifacts and user documentation of business processes.
* Leads or participates in meetings with business users and software developers to achieve agreement on requirements. Tracks progress of junior analyst's assignments.
* Identifies and documents test cases for new and existing business requirements. Participates on test teams. Prepares test plans. Prepares test scripts. Conducts functional, acceptance, security and performance testing. May lead project specific test efforts/teams. Assists with post implementation reviews.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

* Requires a bachelor's degree in business, economics, MIS, computer science, or equivalent. Masters' degree a plus.
* 7 years' experience as Business Analyst or equivalent. Business Analyst certification may be substituted for 3 years experience.
* Demonstrated ability to analyze complex business problems to produce business process design.
* Able to read and write transact structured query language (SQL).
* Demonstrated knowledge of software development methodologies as they relate to the business requirements, testing and UI design concepts and processes.
* Demonstrated skill with MS Office technologies, including two or more of the following: SharePoint Administration, MS Access and MS SQL Server Management Studio and Visual Studio.
* Proficient with MS Office applications. Additional experience with Tableau software is a plus.
* Experience with the cloud version of Workday and/or Ariba solutions is a plus.
* Report writing skills is a plus.
* Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles and practices.
* Excellent listening and oral communication skills for effective information gathering and dissemination, including preparation and delivery of formal and informal presentations to educate, inform and persuade audience.
* Excellent written communication skills, including ability to produce a variety of business documents that demonstrate a command of language, clarity of thought, and orderliness of presentation.
* Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted for any of the above requirements.

WORK HOURS AND CONDITIONS:

8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Flexibility / additional hours may be required based on business needs; some travel may be required up to 15%
