Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Business Applications, the Senior Application Developer is responsible for working with the team to establish the standards and architectures of the applications that support the All Covered business. The role supports the application development process to develop quality in-house applications using established methodologies. This includes integration of 3rd party solutions. Due to the mission-critical and unique nature of the solutions to the All Covered business, the role must maintain a drive toward continual improvement.

The Senior Application Developer will work with the other programmers and the rest of the IT team to ensure the stable operation of existing applications and related systems. They will help maintain the synchronization between applications and confirm it is operating properly. They will also review and validate the continual operation of SQL support for core applications, identify opportunities to improve and streamline operations, and continually perform application tuning. The Senior Application Developer will perform code reviews and peer reviews, streamline integration to existing systems and implement changes to existing systems to support business process changes

The Senior Application Developer will work with the IT team to maintain currency of existing applications and solutions including patches and updates.

The Senior Application Developer will work with Business Analysts to evaluate requirements, solve problems and implement solutions that ensure software integration, data integrity, standards compliance, security and information relevance. They will maintain clear documentation of applications, processes and functions. They will develop new applications on the appropriate platform to support new business processes and integrate new applications in to existing systems.

The Senior Application Developer will also work with Business Analysts to develop functional requirements, design specifications and traceability matrices for new solutions and applications. They will coordinate multiple complex projects simultaneously meeting deadlines while managing priorities and communicating progress/ setting expectations

Our current application environment combines a custom application with numerous third party products, mostly web-based with MS SQL Server 2005 databases, and all tightly integrated by our code. Custom application screens are written in ASP/VB Script, and we use a wide variety of third party products, tools and plug-ins. This Developer will join our small team to maintain and enhance these applications, and take this environment into the future.

Qualifications

* 10+ years of enterprise application development, at least 5 years at a senior level with key responsibility for designing and creating applications.
* 5+ years of advanced Microsoft SQL Server 2005 experience including complex SQL stored procedures, hands-on management of servers, and experience with data movement across linked servers
* 5+ years of experience with one or more of: Visual Basic, VB Script, ASP, JAVA, JavaScript, Ruby, .NET (C#), PERL, HTML5, SOAP, Microsoft SQL Reporting Services.
* Proven track record of delivering quality, mission-critical, enterprise solutions
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Experience with recognized methodologies such as Scrum, Agile and SDLC is preferred
* Strong initiative and passion for making a difference through Business Applications
* Solid business acumen and a drive toward business growth
* BS or MS (preferred) in Computer Science or related job experience
