Senior ABAP Developer

As a member of the Business System Team, reporting to the Programming Manager, Senior ABAP developer is responsible for developing, enhancing and supporting ABAP programs in ECC and APO systems. Work closely with Business Analysts and business leaders for Projects and support. Design, develope, test, and implement RICEIFW objects in SAP to effectively meet business requirements.

Position Requirements

* Ability to translate functional requirements into technical terms relevant to SAP to develop and assist with detailed technical design.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate well and cooperate with others to effectively coordinate activities and accomplish goals.
* Demonstrated ability to remain effective and productive in a fast-paced and changing environment.
* Demonstrated ability to analyze and provide effective problem solving of Business requirements, assessing whether standard functionality can be used and identifying reasonable custom solutions where needed.
* Demonstrated Teamwork / collaboration expertise with experience in taking a leadership role in team / project activities.
* Proven ability to research and assess potential SAP solutions in support of new business requirements.
* Understanding of full life cycle ASAP or other development methodology.
* Ability and willingness to travel on occasion.
* Ability to provide after-hours support as required.

Education/Experience

* Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Business, Finance, or related field.
* Minimum of 8 years of experience as ABAP developer.
* Experience in BAPI, IDOC/ALE, ALV, SAP Script, Smart Forms, RFC, ABAP objects, Webdynpro, Enhancements, Workflow, reports, interfaces, conversion, LSMW and dialog programs.
* Multiple SAP full life-cycle implementations experience.
* ABAP development experience in modules FICO, SD, MM, PP, WM and APO.
* Experience with S/4 and C/4 is highly desirable.

Position Responsibilities

Take a lead role in developing appropriate SAP solutions for new implementation projects:

* Developing ABAP objects - reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms, webdnpro and workflow.
* Ability to recommend and evaluate different solution path for business requirements and implement new ideas with ease.
* Writing clear, complete documentation - technical specifications, testing and code review.

Provide Business as Usual (BAU) support across the ECC and APO modules:

* Demonstrating full knowledge with existing SAP design and enhancements;
* Analyzing problems in tickets and change requests while determining appropriate solutions within a reasonable timeframe per service level agreements.
* Developing new capabilities as needed while working with Business Analysts to modify and test programs ensuring adequate end user testing and acceptance of all changes.

Support "Best Practices" and ensure full audit compliance:

* Working with Business Systems Analysts to define business objectives and evaluate design options to come up with best solution
* Performing program reviews and ensuring remediation is performed if standards are not met.
* Documenting and enhancing of development standards, change management processes and technical support requirements and procedures;
* Administering technical cross training with colleagues.

Decision Making:

* Participate in the decision making process to develop effective and efficient system design decisions.
* Based on knowledge of programming principles, best practices, and SAP capabilities, recommend appropriate solutions to business issues.

Leadership:

* While having no direct supervisory responsibilities, the ABAP Programmer Analyst has strong leadership skills to effectively participate in and facilitate work groups, consisting of various combinations of business users, developers and Business Analysts through project and development activity.
* In problem solving activities, provide direction to others in identifying root causes and developing appropriate solutions.

Scope of Position:

* Perform analysis, troubleshooting, and developing effective solutions to business requirements, receiving input from the SAP Business Analysts and Business Users. This includes collaboration with other ABAP, BASIS, BW and .NET developers.
