This role is responsible to produce properly programmed and tested software solutions to meet defined business requirements. This involves producing physical design specifications for solution components when needed. This also involves translating detailed design specifications into executable physical code and includes programming, testing, analyzing, maintaining and documenting new and/or existing software applications. This role may apply in either the current packaged Train Control solution, a future packaged solution, or a future custom developed solution, all depending on the assignment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Support business analysts, functional designers, and architects in the requirements gathering phase


* Support architecture teams in building high level design architecture


* Have or acquire overall application and project knowledge coupled with a deeper understanding of specific detailed are of expertise.


* Ensure proper transition of solution to application support teams.


* Participating in meeting with stakeholders for defining requirements, troubleshooting issues, and other meetings as needed for supporting the Train Control system.


* Participating in system integration and acceptance testing of the Train Control system.


* Reviewing integration plans, integration reports and test procedures


* Providing all technical documentation for configuring and supporting the Train Control system, troubleshooting procedures and processes and end-user how-to guides


* Contribute to the solution architecture by identifying the degree of re-use of existing and/or pre-packaged application functions versus the need for the development of new and/or customized functions.


* Provide work estimates


* Analyze system issues and/or business requirements to design effective, high-availability, business-critical solutions


* Manage cross-project dependencies and overlap to reduce risks for successful go-lives.


* Coordinate the delivery of a complete solution


* Produce functional design specifications


* Deploy and stabilize new solutions


* Enhance or improve as necessary the operational aspects of the messaging infrastructure (performance, monitoring, scalability, etc.)


* Prepare and deliver knowledge transfer sessions within the team


* Manage system capacity


* Evaluate/assess upgrades, priorities and criticality


* Make recommendations for process and tools improvements.


* Define the stabilization and knowledge transfer plans. Ensure that the transfer has been successful to the support teams.


* Apply, and ensure compliance with, all appropriate CN I&T standards (eg. Security, Architecture, Project Delivery Methodology, etc.)



REQUIREMENTS

* PTC; Rail Train Control Center; and Rail industry experience is a primary requirement


* Solid experience in complex software application integration


* Experience in preparing specifications


* Experience preparing, reviewing integration plans, integration reports and test procedures


* Ability to translate business requirements into detail design specifications


* Proficient professional verbal and written communication skills


* Able to communicate, document and comprehend comfortably at different levels of detail over functional and technical components (hardware, software, functional and non-functional).


* Experienced in a distributed complex environment implementation.


* Strong proven experience in Complex Application and IT Solution build and integration using 3rd party products.



ASSETS

Experience in the integration of custom software solutions over full project lifecycle

(architecture - design - build - integration - testing - deployment - support).
