World Travel Holdings is seeking a Software Engineering Manager for the Wilmington, MA office. In this role, you are responsible for developing a high performing group of engineers that delivers product with quality, timeliness, and scalability. You will collaborate with product managers and other engineering teams to ensure the overall business vision aligns with the development work.

The ideal candidate is hands on. Your background consists of having been a talented, self-motivated engineer with management experience, a track record of shipping code to production in rapid iteration within a high volume, high availability environment, and you share our passion for delivering a remarkable customer experience.

Our technology

Our white-label cruise platform is built on Java, REST APIs, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot, and front-end frameworks such as Angular JS and JQuery. We also use Oracle, a content management system, page templating, and several NoSQL data stores.

Responsibilities

What a typical day looks like

* Run a team that maintains and extends our platform including web and mobile applications
* Work closely with product managers and your team to prioritize stories, get them estimated, scheduled for sprints, and keep them on track for delivery
* Collaborate with other engineering teams to plan upcoming projects, coordinate with operation, support and infrastructure teams to make sure delivery of new project goes out smoothly
* Make the most use of logging data from our systems to provide our team the best insight about how our ecommerce engine is running while ensuring smooth operations and data driven prioritization decisions across the platform
* Brainstorm with product managers, peers, and principal engineers to develop strategies and set technical direction for our ecommerce platform
* Manage the developers who report to you directly, meet with them regularly to ensure they are meeting their goals, and support their career growth
* Maintain system and data security at a high standard ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the websites are not compromised
* Deliver on excellent platform uptime guarantees and act as the higher-level escalation contact for the platform
* Adhere to industry best practice coding standards, and make certain all code developed at World Travel Holdings is free from bugs and security vulnerabilities such as those defined and published by OWASP

Qualifications

What you bring to the team• Education: You have a MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.• Experience: You have prior successful experience managing a team working within Agile framework• Technical: You have hands-on experience with standard frameworks and technologies such as: Spring Framework/Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, Microservices, JPA/Hibernate, SQL, templating, caching, Content management systems, HTML, CSS, Javascript, JQuery, Angular, React, Responsive web

* Business web application experience: You've got experience working on business applications such as e-commerce, CRM, CMS, and web applications. You understand the technology stack in a web application using modern software languages from Javascript to REST to databases
* Business acumen: You know how to weigh the risk and value to our customer. You are quick to learn the business and can grow into an effective resource and liaison to our ecommerce Product managers
* Solutions-oriented: You have outstanding problem solving and analytical skills
* Communication: You are an amazing communicator both written and verbal. You have a proven track record of facilitating team discussions for design, development, or production troubleshooting and ensuring the team moves forward to complete action items. Your success communicating proposed features showcases your ability to listen and learn from your peers and team
* Team Development: You cultivate a high performing team culture to meet and exceed key success metrics. You attract talent, improve team morale and are passionate about developing engineers' careers and goals
* Innovation: You're genuinely motivated by technology, keep up-to-date, and understand how to keep moving the platform forward while simultaneously delivering new business features

What makes you stand out

* Hands on Experience with ReactJS or Angular and migrating production applications from one framework to another
* Experience with Elastic Search, Logstash, Kibana
* Passion and ability to excel working in a team environment
* Proven experience effectively using Scrum process and tools (Scrumwise, Jira, Confluence, etc.)
* Logical working style with a keen attention to detail
* Delivery focused work ethic that takes ownership and produces results
