Job Description

The Software Engineering Manager is a senior-level technologist with demonstrated leadership experience responsible for leading Eastern Bank's aggressive pursuit of software solutions that enrich customer experiences and streamline operations. In partnership with bank stakeholders, Technology teams and Eastern Bank Labs, the Software Engineering Manager will establish the software development tools, practices and controls required to develop reliable, secure and innovative banking solutions. The Software Engineering Manager closely monitors advances in technology tools and methods and continually refines Eastern's software engineering toolset, operational models and strategic vision to position Eastern for marketplace leadership. The Head of Software Engineering has overall responsibility for software engineering leadership, team goals and development execution. This position will sit in the Boston and/or Lynn office.

* Proven success building, motivating, leading and retaining high-performance engineering teams through technology evolution and stakeholder adoption.
* History of delivering customer-driven software products at a high scale in a fast paced, technology first, rapid-growth company
* Ability to lead positive change, empower people, cultivate product technology visions and innovative solutions
* Demonstrated experience driving creative solutions while designing and building for reliability, privacy and security.
* Experienced decision maker and driver with the ability to collaborate with varied stakeholders and able to articulate product vision and roadmap.
* Prior success as the leader of software engineer, subject matter expert, strategic influencer on the direction of the product design and development.
* Hands-on development experience with the entire Agile/SCRUM software development life cycle (from project inception through release) is required.
* Experience in developing detailed project schedules for complex software development projects with changing requirements, limited resources and fixed deadlines.
* Experience developing and presenting software development plans, metrics, and progress reports.
* Excellent consultative, negotiating, listening, communication, organizational and analytical skills.
* Experience in the development of financial products or financial institution experience is a plus.
* Experience across a broad range of: Apigee API portal, Anglular, Node.JS middleware and micro-services, containerization, Jenkins deployment automation, GitLab and testing frameworks
* Bachelor's degree in information technology, business, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. At least 8 years of hands-on commercial software development experience. At least 3 years managing a development team of 5 .
