Job Description

Altair is seeking a Software Engineer to join R&D of OptiStruct. The candidate will be mainly responsible for developing core FEA capabilities in Fortran, C and/or C++. It is required that candidates bring in-depth knowledge about FEA formulations in general, and nonlinear and transient analyses in particular. Altair OptiStruct is a general finite element analysis code with comprehensive analysis solutions for linear and nonlinear static and transient analysis, buckling, eigenvalue analysis, NVH (noise and vibration), Component Modal Synthesis (CMS), thermal analysis and fatigue. Responsibilities:

* To derive FEA formulations related to elements, integration schemes, material laws, contact etc.
* Must be able to program with Fortran, C and/or C++
* With experience, or at lease with deep understanding, of MPI and SMP parallel coding
* Able to develop solutions on a large code system
* Software testing and debugging. Creating test models with a good understanding of mechanics and engineering applications.
* Ability to work collaboratively on a small team with little or no supervision
* Analyze solution failures systematically and work towards solution quickly

Requirements:

* Master's or PhD in Mechanical, Civil or Aerospace Engineering, with focus on solid mechanics and finite element analysis. PhD degree is preferred.
* Strong knowledge in nonlinear Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Structural Dynamics and Transient Analysis.
* Programming knowledge with Fortran, C and/or C++.
* Knowledge of MPI and/or OpenMP is a plus.
* Sound mathematical skills.
* Familiar with both Linux and Windows systems.
* Must be self-motivated and pay attention to the details.
* Strong analytical skills and problem solving capabilities.
* Knowledge of HyperMesh and Optistruct products a plus.
* Must be a team player.
