Job summary

The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us in Boston, MA. In this role, you will serve as an OpenShift engineer, joining a team that builds the next generation installation and management technology for the Red Hat OpenShift and CoreOS offerings. You will be a key member of our OpenShift Windows containers team, focusing on building world-class technologies demonstrating Red Hat's thought and market leadership in hybrid cloud, system engineering, and Kubernetes management. You'll need to be able to work in a fast-paced and sometimes chaotic environment, with the goal of making our end users and customers more successful with every release.

Primary job responsibilities

* Work closely with engineers on Red Hat OpenShift to become a contributor to both the upstream and downstream Red Hat OpenShift projects to deliver functionality
* Interact with multiple teams within Red Hat as well as with the open source community
* Communicate with end users through Slack, forums, and email
* Develop critical functionality to enable Windows containers on Red Hat OpenShift

Required skills

* Degree in computer science or equivalent experience
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
* Ability to work with Windows servers and containers, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Fedora, Go programming language and technologies like cgroups, Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux), containers, and Kubernetes on a day-to-day basis

Familiarity with the following is considered a plus:

* Red Hat Ansible
* Red Hat OpenShift
* Cloud providers like Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Google Compute Engine (GCE)
