Sema4 is a next-generation health information company, spun out of the Mount Sinai Health System, that provides advanced genomic testing and merges big data analytics with clinical diagnostics. Our team creates practical tools that help patients, clinicians, and researchers better diagnose, treat, and prevent disease. We are striving to construct a more comprehensive picture of health by integrating three key elements: a wealth of clinical experience that informs the answers that patients and providers are seeking, the world-class academic research that illuminates new directions, and the pioneering information science that puts all the pieces together.

Our Engineering team is looking for talented Software Engineers who are passionate and excited about building, extending and scaling our external platforms and internal tools. You will be an integral part of the daily operations and ongoing growth within the company and will be responsible for the build out of software applications across multiple channels. This roles development is currently done primarily in Java.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Develop clean, well-tested, and high-performing code for our internal API and ETL process using Java.
* Design and develop internal APIs and endpoints written in Java.
* Write custom queries and maintain MySQL databases.
* Join a cross-functional team working with engineers and product managers to iterate on shippable features.
* Regularly deploy code and perform pull request code reviews.
* Improve performance, monitoring, alerting, and security for our services.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or comparable CS training or experience.
* 2+ years' experience with Java or a similar programming language or technology.
* Experience working with SQL and related database technologies.
* Comfortable with the Linux/Unix command line.
* Knowledge or experience with Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform. or similar cloud computing infrastructures.
* Proficiency in software fundamentals and the software development process in a collaborative team environment.
* Ability to work and communicate effectively in teams of technical and non-technical individuals.
