Job summary

Tackle interesting problems across a new technology. The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Quay team in New York, NY. In this role, you will work on Quay, which is an established, market-leading software solution that stores, builds, analyzes, and distributes container images and also Clair, which is a software that statically identifies and analyzes security vulnerabilities in application containers. Quay and Clair are available both as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and on-premise offerings that are used and loved by customers around the world. You'll focus on scaling, container runtime isolation, user experience (UX), service orchestration, and automated software life cycle.

Primary job responsibilities

* Develop dynamic web applications in Python and Go
* Work on new features from design to implementation and launch
* Maintain and enhance a large codebase
* Work with Kubernetes to automatically deploy complex stateful applications
* Engage with our customers

Required skills

* Experience building standard N-tier web applications
* Ability to write automated unit and integration tests
* Understanding of relational databases and SQL
* Distributed source control tools like Git or Mercurial
* Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience
* 3+ years of industry experience

The following are considered a plus:

* Experience with a dynamic language like Python, Ruby, or Go
* Experience developing or using web application frameworks and object-relational mapping (ORM)
* Working knowledge of the JavaScript and Go ecosystems
* Familiarity with containers and container orchestration
* Understanding of common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVE)-based software vulnerabilities as identified by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the Mitre Corporation, and the National Vulnerability Database (NVD)
* Familiarity with various Linux distributions and packaging methods including container layering
