Software Engineer, API

Job Description

As a software engineer working on the API Platform, you will help launch and support a self-serve 3rd-party API. This API will be used by partners and applications creating value for hundreds of thousands of sellers worldwide. If you enjoy designing APIs and building easy to use systems for other engineers, you're a great fit.

As an API engineer, you will have ownership over your projects, and influence design and execution. You will have access to all metrics and gain a full understanding of how your work contributes to Wish. This will be a challenging role as you help us build a world class API and app store. Come help us build a flexible and open API combined with an easy to use app store.

For this role, you should be smart, hands-on, and have a solid foundation in math, computer science, or software engineering. You should have strong competencies in data structures, algorithms and software design. We are looking for someone passionate and driven!

Responsibilities

* Architecting and building features in their entirety
* RESTful API development and maintenance
* Building interfaces for complex systems and high-quality tools
* Technical ownership of projects and managing resources

Desired Skills and Experience

* A self-driven motivated leader who enjoys solving problems in large scale distributed systems domain
* B.S., M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or equivalent
* Experience with building distributed systems in UNIX type platforms
* Strong problem solving skills with practical application of data structures
* Proficient in any one of the languages: C++, Go, Java, Scala, Python, Ruby, etc.
* Knowledge and experience with RDBMS such as Postgresql, MariaDB, and Mysql; and NoSQL solutions such as Cassandra, HBase, Riak, and MongoDB
* Experience building scalable service API's - RESTful, HATEOAS, etc
* Proficient with UNIX commands
* Some understanding of the TCP/IP stack and TCP states
* Knowledge of AWS products
* Some working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript
