Do you want to learn new Mobile technologies and tools to create mobile first customer experiences? Do you want to lead a cross-functional team that rapidly tests new customer experiences that can scale into millions of daily customer interactions? Come join us on the Mobile Growth Technology Team to help build and launch new, innovative mobile-app experiences to millions of customers worldwide.

The objective of the Mobile Growth team is to accelerate the customer adoption and engagement of the shopping app. To support this objective, the Mobile Growth Tech Team rapidly tests new customer experiences that drive customer engagement and long-term customer value. This includes creating scalable backend services that can be leveraged across Operating Systems, devices, and even across Amazon experiences. This includes a variety of technologies including Reactive Native, Java, modified HTML, and more. It also includes leveraging new AWS technologies. You will work closely with Product Management and Design to re-imagine what shopping looks like on mobile. The programs that you work on will have a demonstrable and measureable impact on the mobile business. We have built and own a DeepLinkingService and AppFeatureAwareness service that powers many Amazon apps including the Amazon Shopping app. We have also led the worldwide rollout of services that connect to third parties to programmatically leverage Machine Learning algorithms that optimize our customer experiences.

As the Software Development Manager, you will lead and own all parts of the software development and deployment lifecycle, including design, development, documentation, testing, and operations. You will lead a cross-functional team, including Software Development Engineering, Technical Program Management, Testing, and Data Engineering.

The successful candidate sets a high bar for the team to deliver for our customers. The candidate will need to work successfully in a cross-collaboration environment, where engineers work next to Technical Program Managers, Product Managers, Marketing Managers, and Data Engineers. We solve problems together, but have team members take the lead with a "single threaded" mindset. They must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven and deliver high quality results in a fast paced environment. They need to really enjoy working with their customers and peers, and help plan and deliver results that matter for the business.

Core skills include: You are willing and able to get deep into the technical details, are proactive in removing roadblocks, pave the way for innovation, and can handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. You have a thorough understanding of software processes (development, configuration, testing, and deployment) and are able to identify risks early on. You are able to credibly coordinate between teams of technical resources and business stakeholders. You have excellent customer relationship skills and are an advocate for the customer to all internal parties. You are able to negotiate and gain buy-in on technical decisions and ensure that appropriate software engineering practices are employed to deliver high quality results. You have a graduate degree in mathematics, computer science, or related discipline. You think big, dive deep and deliver results with hustle.

Responsibilities:

* Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments
* Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment.
* Management of departmental resources, staffing, mentoring, enhancing and maintaining a best-of-class engineering teams
* Work closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach.
* Evaluate all relevant mobile development technologies including React Native, Swift, and others
* Contribute substantively to innovation on mobile and overcome technology limitations to deliver on customer experience.
* Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management.
* Responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of frameworks.
