The Percolate team owns Amazon's content optimization platform. We build the systems and algorithms for tailoring the experience of every customer on Amazon's most prominent pages, billions of times a day. We are uniquely positioned in the company to have large direct impact, driving billions of dollars of new revenue per year.

We are looking for SDM for Percolate Analytics. The Team: Percolate Analytics is a team in Personalization which ensures we are providing transparency and performance insights to all the Percolate customers so that they are empowered to enhance the Amazon customer experience and drive incremental business value. We achieve this by delivering trustworthy insights via Percolate Analytics Portal and robust data sets integrated with Percolate's ML systems. We are responsible for analyzing vast amounts of data on customer behavior and purchases influenced by our models, generate insights and update models to drive growth of the program. Our vision is to enable every content, real estate, and machine-learned model owner integrating with Percolate to understand the impact their contributions are driving for both the overall business and their specific objectives.

Percolate Analytics has an interesting mix of challenges which will help you gain both technical and business skills. Team has high visibility with multiple Directors/VP relying on its deliverables.

The Role: As a SDM, you will lead the technology team to enhance the analytics portal and unlock key insights. You will partner closely with business and technology leaders to identify and prioritize problems, formulate solutions and develop and deliver on roadmap. You will work towards accelerating adoption of our analytics infrastructure by simplifying it and making it self-service. You will need to develop/sharpen your ML skills as you will be working closing with MLEs to ensure we are providing the right insights to the right customers. Your additional focus will be on ensuring high data quality, scalability and availability of the platform.

Our team has both the startup size and mentality, you will need to be entrepreneurial, wear many hats, and work in a highly collaborative environment. We like to move fast, experiment, iterate and then scale quickly, thoughtfully balancing speed and quality.

You will take on interesting challenges everyday. You will need to be comfortable pushing back and challenging the status-quo. You will need to design keeping both short-term and long-term mind. You will need to make high judgement calls around reuse vs rebuild. You should be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity that's higher than most projects and relish the idea of solving problems. You will need to be comfortable in leading design reviews and representing your team and business to other parts of Amazon.

The ideal candidate will be a proven analytics leader who is a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. You will have excellent business, technical, analytical and strategic thinking skills. You are effectively able to work with business and technology leaders to define and prioritize key business and customer problems, build data acquisition and integration pipelines to create data sets and deliver analyses and insights that answer specific problems. You will have exceptionally strong quantitative modeling skills and expertise using data mining and statistical analyses at scale to coach and guide the team to produce actionable insights and recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Hire, coach and lead a team of SDEs and potentially data scientists/data engineers

2. Collaborate with senior leaders to develop data-informed business and product strategy, and deliver insights across a wide range of business areas to delight customers and grow the recommendations program worldwide

3. Partner with our ML team to build requirements for data infrastructure necessary to facilitate efficient analysis and reporting

4. Lead planning and execution of self-service analytics data infrastructure roadmap

5. Provide guidance and thought-leadership on analytics best practices to team members and business partners

6. Translate analytical insights into concrete, actionable recommendations for business or product improvement.

7. Be a thought leader on data systems, data mining and analysis to scale our capabilities, discover trends and develop insights

8. Be the voice of analytics, support in-depth business reviews, and present to senior management
