The Kindle content team works on making every content in every language available for every customer everywhere.

We are looking for a strong leader to help us expand Kindle eBooks for developing countries. Kindle eBooks is currently in many countries and supports many languages, however, there is still a long way to support all languages in all countries and make reading available at the finger tip of all customers regardless where they live. You will have an enormous opportunity to make a large impact on the design, architecture and implementation of Kindle getting it to customers in these countries.

A successful candidate will have an established background in developing customer-facing experiences and will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, and able to think big while paying careful attention to detail. The candidate will be responsible for managing a team of highly competent engineers to define and deliver the shopping and reading experience for each language and country. This person will also be responsible for ensuring various system-level and business-level SLAs are met, while maintaining an unrelenting focus on quality and throughput. This role will have regular interactions with various internal business-owners while owning prioritizing tasks/projects, handling system issues and managing communication across all stakeholders.

The candidate must have a strong background in Computer Science and have at least a Bachelor's Degree in the area or its equivalent. Graduate degree preferred. The ideal candidate should have 10+ years of experience leading software development and gone through at least two full software life-cycles, with a minimum of 5 years of people management experiences. The individual should have proven leadership skills in a fast-paced demanding environment and be very comfortable with delivering solutions for mobile computing devices.
