About Amazon

Job Description

Alexa is Amazon's cloud-based voice service and the brain behind tens of millions of devices including the Echo family of devices, FireTV, Fire Tablet, and third-party devices with Alexa built-in. You can build capabilities, or skills, that make Alexa smarter and make everyday tasks faster, easier, and more delightful for customers. Tens of thousands of developers have built skills using the Alexa Skills Kit (ASK), a collection of self-service APIs, tools, documentation, and code samples. With ASK, anyone can leverage Amazon's knowledge in voice design to build quickly and easily.

As a leader in ASK, you will be the owner of the Alexa Developer Console which enables developers to create, manage, and publish skills for Alexa-enabled devices like Echo. Alexa Developer Console provides a visual interactive interface that supports features to help you build, code and host, test, launch and measure engaging Alexa skills. You will be leading a multi-tenant system where multiple teams own their own space in the Alexa Developer Console and you, as a leader, working towards providing great customer experiences to your internal (Amazon tenant teams) and external customers (Alexa Voice Developers).

We are seeking a Software Development Manager to lead a team of talented engineers in designing, building and maintaining the next generation of the Alexa Developer Console! This team will have the opportunity to work on a highly visible system that directly impacts hundreds of thousands of Alexa Skill Developers as well as many other teams at Amazon. Responsibilities include direct management of development engineers, process and operational improvements, strategic planning, project management, and coordination of resources across teams. Successful candidates will be strong leaders who can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of developing engineers and teams that deliver results.

If you are interested in building large-scale distributed systems, have a high quality bar, flair for innovation, and passion for solving some of the most challenging problems in the industry, we need you! You'll have an opportunity to work alongside and learn from the top leaders at Alexa!
