As a Software Development Manager in our Ashburn, VA office you will provide daily supervision and management of a Software engineering group focused on developing and maintaining engineering software applications. Career management, mentoring, and technical education of managed employees are all provided by this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Define the team mission and vision
* Work with Product Owners to determine resource allocation and estimates (cost and time) for projects.
* Oversee the design and implementation of development efforts in coordination with the defined agile project teams.
* Assist with development related decisions such as architectural designs, tools, and branching strategy
* Assist developers in identifying and debugging complex software problems.
* Help foster communication between cross functional groups
* Responsible for identifying and managing talent, assessing performance and determining merit compensation, driving continued development including setting training goals, identifying areas of focus and providing platforms for training. Also responsible for addressing performance concerns as needed.
* Researches technical solutions for possible inclusion in current and future projects.
* Support current products - issue escalation by BU/SG team, questions from customers, etc.

Job Specifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in related curriculum such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering and 8 or more years of relevant experience
* 4 or more years of demonstrated managerial experience
* Proficiency in building web applications using Java, C++, JavaScript, CSS3, HTML5, Spring, Spring Boot, JPA and Hibernate
* Skilled at writing SQL queries, Stored procedures, Functions & Triggers for Oracle, PostgreSQL, Sybase and MySQL
* Client-side libraries application frameworks like React, Redux, Bootstrap, Angular, Backbone.js, jQuery or jQuery UI
* Working with a relational database such as Postgres, Oracle or MySQL, including schema design, as well as SQL
* Experience with Cloud computing technologies such as AWS and Docker
* Expertise in Agile development methods including Scrum and Kanban
* Experience with REST API's
* Experience in deploying applications on Windows and UNIX environments
* Working with version control and build tools such as Jenkins, Perforce, GitHub, and BitBucket.
* Proficiency with Jira and Confluence for ticket management and requirements management
* Strong analytical skills with ability to quickly understand business needs and communicate that information
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
