As Software Development Manager, you will manage the design and development of the next generation of employment screening services and products. Every day, our amazing team provides solutions to prospects and clients, gaining their trust while enhancing long-term partnerships. This Is The Job For You, If:

* You'll help craft technical and product strategy and lend expertise to the team's business leadership group.
* You'll be responsible for growing and developing an incredible team of talented and motivated engineers with high expectations around individual ownership and impact.
* You'll foster a healthy, resilient and collaborative culture that embodies Sterling's values.
* Contribute to all levels of our Technology Stack, ranging from our React.js to Java APIs.
* Ensure the team conducts itself as efficiently as possible, and continuously seeks ways to make a direct impact on the business. You will reliably ship products that solve real problems and delight customers
* You will work closely with operations and infrastructure to build and scale back-end services

This Is What We're Looking For:

* 3+ years Engineer Management experience,
* Experience hiring, developing and fostering great talent and ensuring the high functioning an engineering team.
* 5+ years of full stack and web application engineering with a record of successfully developing and shipping products with user-empathetic mindset
* Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model. Thorough understanding of React.js and its core principles, as well as asynchronous programming, closures, types, and ES6
* Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
* Are able to balance idealism and pragmatism in a fast-paced work environment.
* Track record architecting and developing highly scalable and secure SaaS based systems.
* Significant experience with full stack or API software engineering with a record of successfully developing and shipping products with user-empathetic mindset.
* Collaborative and capable of working cross-functionally with teams that vary from Product to Sales to Operations to Marketing, as well as other engineering groups.
* Happy operating in an entrepreneurial environment with ambiguity and shifting priorities. Able to roll with the vagaries of a new business and keep your sense of humor and positive attitude.
