Job Description

Amazon Kindle is a revolutionary reading device from one of the most innovative and fastest growing businesses at Amazon. We are seeking a passionate, hard-working, and talented software development engineer, test (SDE-T) who has experience automating testing of mission critical software and services to help shape the future of eBooks and make our content accessible and enjoyable for our customers with regardless of ability.

We own the Kindle organization's accessibility charter, bringing tools, training, audits and our overall vision to all partner engineering teams, insuring that all new features are engineered with an accessible experience in mind. The Accessibility SDE-T is specifically chartered with creating automation and test tools for Kindle apps and web based services that partner engineering teams will use to insure all new features ship as accessible for all our customers. This is a highly collaborative role working with Product Managers, TPMs, SDEs and test leaders across Kindle to insure accessibility test tools can plug into their frameworks, making accessibility testing a core competency, not a bottle neck to shipping software.

You must be proactive, responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment. You will need to be able to work efficiently and effectively in a fun, fast-paced dynamic team environment. You will need to be creative in your approaches to automate accessibility testing of our reading apps, shopping and purchasing experience and author and publishers tools. You must be innovative, self-directed, and understand quality assurance procedures and methodologies. SDETs at Amazon are expected to have industry-leading technical abilities that enable them to significantly improve product quality.

You should have a combination of solid in-depth knowledge of Quality Assurance, solid understanding of computer science principles, as well as knowledge of how to architect software for maximum longevity. The test software you will build should expose usability and functional defects in production level code at the API, component, feature and UI integration levels with your success measured by the adoption rate of your tools and technology and the resulting rate at which Kindle features ship without an accessibility exception.
