World Vision is hiring a SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER
01 THE JOB Are you a standout performer in software development and passionate about changing the world? If so, World Vision is seeking a talented Software Development Engineer to serve on the front lines of our mission critical Support Team. As a Software Development Engineer for World Vision, you are building the tools that will lead to a better life for thousands of children in the most vulnerable places around the world. In this role you'll be charged with providing an excellent online experience for our donors. You'll receive opportunities to expand and grow your skills as you work in a detective-like manner to handle urgent break-fix issues, collaborate with a diverse set of other teams, instrument monitoring systems, build automation for operational tasks, and just have fun solving problems. As part of the Support Team you will also be included in an on-call rotation that gives heightened awareness to systems issues and addresses donor-facing concerns. Additionally, support team developers have the option of a more alternative work schedule including greater work-from-home opportunities.
02 WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE You demonstrate a consistent ability to excel at working collaboratively both within our 4-person team of developers as well as other teams we interface with. As a contributing member of the Support Team you are instrumental in helping us troubleshoot and come up with solutions for the toughest problems and bugs. You embrace agility by not getting bogged down when new and more pressing issues arise causing the focus of the work to shift. Above all else you have a servant's heart that is evident to the team, colleagues you work with, the unseen donor we are committed to providing an excellent experience to, and ultimately has a positive impact on the work we do on behalf of children and communities around the globe.
03 WHERE THIS JOB COULD TAKE YOUR CAREER World Vision USA is a part of the larger World Vision International organization. Globally, World Vision International employs over 40,000 people with over 1000 of those being here at World Vision USA. 05 YOU BRING Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. In addition to education or education equivalent, requires 1-4 years of work experience in web development software or related field. Our web properties are nearly 100% built on WordPress so experience with this CMS, PHP, and MySQL are a must have.
