Job Description

Opportunity for an experienced candidate to join Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) to lead the development and execution of programs in Littleton, Colorado. The successful applicant will be responsible for identifying, marketing, and leading efforts to generate new business associated with defense technologies for clients including the U.S. Navy, Office of Naval Research (ONR), Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), and others.

Candidates for this position should have a proven track record in technology innovation in one or more of the following areas:

* Software development for defense and medical applications
* Computational multi-physics modeling
* Product owner on software scrum team
* Modern web- and cloud-based technologies

Business development experience must include all of the following:

* Identify and network with potential customers
* Create business leads
* Manage proposal writing
* Contribute to proposal writing with a clear understanding of customer motivation
* Experience as a thought leader for business development

The successful applicant must have experience managing large federally funded defense programs and must have a proven track record in identifying and growing new business areas.

Required Qualifications

* M.S. in Computer Science, Math, or Systems Engineering (or military experience equivalent) and at least 20 years of experience
* Experience leading Government-funded research and engineering programs
* Demonstrated experience leading business development and proposal writing
* Ability to lead projects from conception to conclusion with a team of engineers, scientists, and software developers
* Recognized subject matter expertise in software development
* Ability to obtain DoD security clearance, which includes US citizenship.
* Ability to travel up to 50% time.

Location

This position will be based out of ARA Offices in either Littleton, Colorado, or Arlington, Virginia. ARA's Littleton, Colorado, facilities include extensive laboratory, rapid prototyping, and testing capabilities that are relevant to the technology areas listed above. ARA's Arlington, Virginia, facilities are located within walking distance of the Washington D.C. Metro and include extensive office and meeting space within a short distance to many government agencies and industry partners.
