Job Description

Do you love developing algorithms for state-of-the-art signal processing systems?

Are you searching for meaningful research and development work?

Are you passionate about inventing creative solutions to complex engineering challenges?

If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL.

We are seeking a creative engineer to help us protect our country by advancing cutting edge Missile Defense technologies. Our team's focus is on RF and EOIR systems, from designing the systems, to developing the software, to evaluating system performance, and everything in between. You'll join a hardworking team of algorithm developers who are passionate about contributing their signal processing expertise to help advance groundbreaking sensor technologies. You will make meaningful contributions to our team by helping us develop software concepts and algorithms for signal detection and waveforms. We are a diverse team and strive to foster an environment of collaboration and teamwork. You will have an important role in our efforts to invent state-of-the-art sensor and signal processing solutions that help defend our country.

* You will research and develop concepts related to electromagnetic signal propagation, signal detection, and air and space borne sensor systems.
* You will analyze data from high-fidelity simulations and flight tests, assess the performance, then develop strategies for improving system level performance.
* You will help craft novel signal processing concepts and performance models, and contribute to the testing and evaluation of new ideas.
* You will deliver formal presentations to sponsors and working groups to effectively communicate proposed concepts, solutions and analysis results.
* You will contribute your expertise as a technical advisor and be a mentor to junior staff.

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

* Possess a MS degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
* Have 3 years of relevant experience executing applied technology efforts in signal processing and algorithm design.
* Are skilled at developing software in MATLAB and C .
* Are a superb communicator, both written and verbal.
* Are willing and able to travel periodically to meetings with government clients and field test locations.
* Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

* Have a PhD in a relevant engineering field.
* Have a broad background developing algorithms and working with RF, EOIR or other sensor systems.
* Have experience developing software in C in both Windows and Linux environments.
* Have previous experience working closely with clients in the federal government, especially senior Navy officials.
