POSITION DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities/Qualifications

* Systems Administrator over JWICS/SIPR/NIPR networks who is responsible for deploying, maintaining and operating Unix/Linux systems, including HPC (high performance computing) clusters, a distributed DNS service, and internal support systems. This includes installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware and operating system software on a variety of platforms running Linux, and preparing and maintaining detailed systems documentation including troubleshooting, operational procedures and data center infrastructure diagrams. Other responsibilities include troubleshooting, resolving issues on systems, and Tier 1 level support
* Bachelor's degree in computer related field from an accredited college or university; or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
* Experience: 8+ in a technical background with an emphasis in Unix/Linux system admin

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

* Hands-on system administration experience
* Linux distributions in a distributed computing environment
* Solid understanding of IP network fundamentals
* Awareness of network file systems such as NFS
* Scripting languages such as Perl, Python and Bash for system automation tasks
* Securing systems using SSH, VPN, PKI, Kerberos and similar technologies
* Experience installing and troubleshooting enterprise server platforms
* Familiarity with configuration of the HPC software stack
* A familiarity with parallel file systems
* Proficient High-performance network technologies
* Ideally proficient with configuration management frameworks for data center infrastructure management (DCIM)
* An understanding of version control software such as Git, CVS
* Proficient with virtualization and container solutions such as VMware, KVM and Docker
* An understanding of network management tools
* Tuning Linux to achieve optimal use of system and network resources

Certifications: Security +

Required: U.S. Citizenship with a current Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
