Department Overview

The Information Technology (IT) organization designs, develops, operates and maintains the technology and telecommunications systems that enable PG&E to meet its commitment to providing safe, reliable and affordable service to customers.

Position Summary

This position will work in the Solution Delivery team, supporting the web development in One Cloud and Data Center Automation & Solutions.

Qualifications

Minimum:

* BA/BS in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent experience and/or field of study
* Ability to code and script - Solid understanding of computer programming and software development
* Experience with scripting (Unix Shell / PowerCLI / PowerShell / PERL / Python / XML Scripting)
* Experience with automation tool-sets such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Saltstack
* Strong understanding of automated workflows and blueprints as they relate to vRealize Automation and vRealize Orchestrator
* Experience maintaining and enhancing integrations between vRA/vRO and other toolsets
* Minimum 5 years of experience with server administration of VMware, Windows, Linux, and Microsoft clustering in a VMware environment
* Experience with SAN, NAS, and iSCSI storage allocation to ESXi clusters, troubleshooting RDM in virtual machines

Desired:

* Ability to create complex test beds, create test scenarios, create regression tests, document and assess software reliability
* Ability to Serves as a virtualization lead specializing in VMware software defined datacenter (SDDC) solutions
* Ability to design, implement and maintain VMware vSphere and vRealize Automation environments
* Expert knowledge of VMware vSphere ESXi 6.x, VMware vRealize Automation and VMware NSX
* Unix Integration experience with Ansible and Puppet is a PLUS
* VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification
* •Development experience in Java script (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3 and CSS pre-processors

Responsibilities

* Demonstrated experience with Network components like load balancers F5
* Unix shell scripting

* Follows and collaborates on existing Application Development Frameworks and Coding Standards Solid understanding of IT Delivery Methodology, compliance processes and impact to client projects
* Applies professional technical concepts of particular field, procedures, and techniques

Problem Solving:

* Leads complex system modifications
* Assignments are based on extensive knowledge of concepts, principles or practices in a specific discipline, field or area of expertise, and require seasoned, experienced-based judgement in applying and adapting techniques
* Resolves application programming analysis problems of broad scope within procedural guidelines
* May seek assistance from the supervisor or more skilled programmers/analysts on unusual or especially complex problems that cross multiple functional/technology areas

Internal/External Contact:

* May attend client meetings on behalf of team or manager
* Collaborates with Project Manager on complex project timelines, identifying critical path, resource assignments, risks and dependencies representative

Freedom of Action:

* Oversee, mentor, and provide guidance to less experienced programmer-analysts
* The incumbent independently plans work to meet assigned general objectives; progress is reviewed upon completion and solutions may provide an opportunity for creative/non-standard approaches
