About Amazon

Job Description

At Amazon, we are the most customer-centric company on earth. If you'd like to help us build the place to find and buy anything online, this is your chance to make history. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people. We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join as a Sr. Technical Program Manager.

The Promise organization is responsible to provide promises during search, detail product description and checkout for the Amazon retail business worldwide. The Promise team seeks to identify the optimal delivery option for whatever a customer wants. We believe that finding an optimal promise and living up to it consistently improves our customer experience because we increase customers' confidence and trust in Amazon as the one, best option to get what you want, when you want it. The promise team provides delivery commitments that work as a constraint for the delivery planning and fulfillment systems.

In this role, you will work closely with Sr. Leaders, stakeholders, software engineers, scientists and product teams across Amazon to deliver on highly complex, ambiguous business problems that require cross-org (e.g. Inventory Management, Transportation Management, Delivery Experience, Search, etc.) innovations and project delivery activities. Sr. TPM in Promise is expected to assist partner organizations with their scoping, planning and resource contribution while driving delivery commitments from the leadership of the respective organizations and requires building technical knowledge of the downstream and client systems. The successful candidate is one who loves working directly with software developers to understand their needs. We have a team culture that encourages innovation and we expect team members and management alike to take high degree of ownership for their program vision and execution of ideas. The TPM must successfully partner to define and deliver solutions and mechanisms that have a long-term beneficial impact on our products, company technology, and on engineering practices overall.

As Promise services are used in building latency sensitive pages, e.g. search, detail and checkout, this role is also responsible for managing the latency and computation hardware impact of projects across multiple teams and architecture changes.

This role provides clear, comprehensive and timely status updates, including decisions made, tradeoffs and any escalations needed to remove obstacles to all stakeholders.

You will act as a leader who can set the team vision and tone, articulate clear goals and priorities, and ensure delivery excellence. You are proactive in removing roadblocks, pave the way for innovation, and handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. You are able to handle business escalations with a data-driven approach.

You will need strong judgment. Our leaders have a lot of ownership and autonomy so they need to be right a lot. Finally, you'll need to be able to invent and simplify which is what we do every day on Promise service teams.
