Job Description

The person would be working as part of a highly technical team providing expertise and administration services in multiple BI, analytics and data management technology platforms. With cross training and cross-functioning the position offers great growth opportunities.

Independently designs, builds and support Tableau platform by executing any complexity tasks ensuring functionality, accessibility and security of the platform. Plans, schedules and performs patching and upgrade tasks of platforms. Performs system backup and recovery procedures

Monitors Tableau server utilization patterns for user feedback, management reporting and future planning. Forecasts utilization patterns and recommends capacity changes. Tracks license compliance. Tracks and reports system performance metrics. Monitors, analyzes system performance and suggests configuration changes for optimal performance in any complexity scenarios. Establish and maintain performance baselines, troubleshoot performance issues and provide recommendations/fixes for identified issues. Recommends and implements continuous improvement and automation of tasks.

Advance the adoption of Tableau 'best practices' across the company. Supports and establishes standards for platform usage. Maintains user knowledgebase. Reviews troublesome workbooks and datasources and provides suggestions to users for improvements.

Interfaces with Tableau developers and provides consulting services on Tableau software capabilities. Interfaces with business point of contacts in setup of applications and providing support and operational management of the Tableau environment. Interfaces with Tableau support personnel for BSC projects and operational assistance. Collaborates and Interfaces with storage, server, authentication, database and other server/platform engineers / administrators to support ongoing operations for meeting the business needs via the Tableau Server environment.

Executes actions necessary to achieve and maintain optimum Tableau platform performance, reliability and availability in serving the analysis needs.

Executes different work streams. Manages the metadata security configuration, licensing and the physical installs/location of the servers and services and that comprise the Tableau Server environment.

Reviews and maintains the organization and security of the objects contained in the repository.

Skill Requirements:

* In-depth experience with design & development of Workbook Dashboards, and Data Sources through Tableau Desktop


* Ability to recommend best practices of development and critique design approaches


* Hands on Experience on Tableau Architecture for Tableau 10.x/2018.x


* Advanced knowledge of Tableau Server platform and server-side functionalities.


* Experience on Tableau Administration including Install and upgrade in a distributed enterprise environment.


* Advanced knowledge of performance diagnosis and optimization. Be able to analyze system resource utilization, bottlenecks and plan platform capacity sizing.


* Should have tabcmd/tsm command-line experience.


* Experience with automation for tasks like deployment of datasources/workbooks across environment, alerts via scripting.


* Experience and familiarity with TabMon, PerfMon, LogShark, VizAlerts, TabMigrate. Additional familiarity with Splunk, GIT tools is preferred.


* Should have familiarity with Tableau Services Manager (TSM) and Data Engine servers starting version 10.5.x


* Experience with the inner workings of Tableau Admin Views and familiarity with workgroup tables.


* Ability encompasses in-depth knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of Tableau Server platform.


* Experience in previous administrator of other Business Intelligence platforms like PowerBI/Microstrategy/Business Objects is highly preferred to enable cross functioning and holistic approach to solutions even beyond Tableau.


* Excellent Communication, Documentation and Presentation skills


* Atleast 2 years of focused Tableau administration experience and total 4 years of Tableau experience.


* Generally, requires 5 to 7 years of professional experience directly related to all aspects of Tableau. Fully competent professional.
