Overview

LMI is seeking a Systems Engineer to support a federal program management office (PMO) charged with planning, acquiring, and managing the deployment and operation of technology and capabilities to keep our borders safe. We are seeking an energetic self-starter who is focused on practical and efficient solutions delivered by a multi-dimensional collaborative team. This individual will provide full-time support to the client's program management office, located in Northern Virginia. Travel may be required once or twice a month to stations on the nation's borders.

Responsibilities

This individual will support the client's program management office (PMO) and provide full life cycle systems engineering and engineering management support for the development of programs of record (POR) and acquisition and deployment of technologies and systems to the field for the client's portfolios programs, projects, and other initiatives. From program planning and market research to trade studies, requirements definition, decision support, and program execution assistance, this individual will apply sound systems engineering principles ensuring DHS/CBP compliant policies and processes are followed and the client's objectives are met.

Specific responsibilities may include:

* Supporting or leading the development of engineering plans and artifacts including:
* Systems Engineering Plans (SEP)
* Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC) Tailoring Plans
* Functional Requirements Documents (FRD)
* Software Requirements Specification (SRS)
* Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP)
* Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)
* Providing technical support including assessments and briefings in support of SELC gate reviews
* Participating in or leading IPTs and/or work groups
* Performing market research, trade studies, and other technical investigations as required
* Participating in program-level review boards, including engineering, configuration, risk, and test review boards
* Supporting or leading the planning, execution, data collection, evaluation, and assessment of system acceptance tests, technical demonstrations, and other technology and/or systems evaluation efforts
* Assessing contractor deliverables against requirements
* Maintaining comprehensive awareness of the program's and contract's progress with respect to cost, schedule, and performance as an enabler to informed decision making

Qualifications

* SENIOR LEVEL: 10+ years of relevant experience and a MS degree in systems engineering or a related discipline. 14 years relevant experience plus a STEM BS degree or 18 total years' relevant experience can be equivalent.
* MID LEVEL: 3-10 years' experience and a BS or MS degree in systems engineering or a related discipline
* Experience in providing engineering support to large, complex programs
* Experience with the full Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC) and its processes and practices
* Familiar with DHS or DoD acquisition life cycle framework
* Experience in developing engineering and project plans
* Knowledge of a broad spectrum of technical fields and engineering disciplines
* Strong problem solving skills, organizational skills, communication skills, and leadership skills
* Self-motivated, proactive, independent performer who can perform well in a collaborative, team environment
* All position require eligibility to acquire CBP BI, for which you must be a US Citizen. Highly Preferred: Active U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) BI.
