Job Description

Job Summary: Senior Systems Engineer to provide Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Modeling, Simulation and Analysis (MS&A) Space Situational Awareness (SSA) and Space Control subject matter expertise in support of the Space and Missiles System Center (SMC) Enterprise Space Battle Management Command & Control (ESBMC2) Program Office. This includes evaluating current and in-development SSA and Command and Control (C2) architectures; developing functional and system level architecture artifacts for the ESBMC2 Program Office; evaluating and making recommendations for enterprise-wide BMC2 architecture interface standards; and technical maturation of previous JHU/APL developed tools/capabilities that will address ESBMC2 needs.

The ESBMC2 program of record is a major effort to deliver Air Force Space Command enterprise-wide capabilities that will deliver modernized and integrated BMC2 capabilities to conduct a variety of Space Operations, and meet national and international obligations.

Duties:

* Document architecture solutions with Sparx Enterprise Architect (EA) DoDAF products


* Be an active participant in the ESMBMC2 Systems Engineering Work Group (SEWG) and respond to tasking/action items from the SEWG


* Perform architectural trade analysis to determine systems level performance requirements for future evolved kill chain architectures


* Participate and support activities associated with the ESBMC2 SEWG


* Identify interfaces and dependencies within an enterprise architecture


* Support M&S efforts associated with the capabilities being matured/funded by the ESBMC2 Program Office


* Provide the Government M&S experience in performing space threat analysis


* Perform MBSE and use MS&A tools to analyze performance of government-provided end-to-end use cases of SSA and C2 capabilities supporting space control operations


* Support SAP/SAR documentation development where appropriate


* Evaluate existing future mission architectures


* Recommend architectures and systems designs


* Support requirements development and allocation


* Identify Space Intelligence gaps and potential sources and methods that can help address these gaps

Required Qualifications:

* 15 years of experience in space systems, space technology, or associated systems with 10 years-experience managing Air Force / DoD technology programs.


* Masters of Science degree in, math, engineering, physics or relevant technical field.


* Experience managing sophisticated technology programs for the National Security Space sponsor community.


* Demonstrated leadership and excellent communication skills.


* Proven track record of developing and expanding impactful contributions to our national defense; demonstrated success in developing and mentoring program or project leaders, and in developing strong relationships with sponsors.



Desired Qualifications:

MS in Science or Engineering; proven track record in the Air Force space sponsor community; demonstrated success as an APL Systems Engineer.

Special Working Conditions: Position will be located in Los Angeles, CA, on-site at sponsor facility. Occasional travel to mission partners locations and to APL in Laurel, MD will be required. At completion of current project, this position may require relocation to APL Campus in Laurel, MD. Requires occasional travel.

Security: Applicant selected will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship. Applicant must meet the requirements for access to classified information and have a current TS/SCI.
