Senior Systems Engineer, Avionics

Physical Optics Corporation currently has number of large as well as medium size military/government contracts that continue growing in technology development, technology transition to production and productions. Most of these programs address next generation airborne systems, such as flight data recorders, advanced data transfer systems, and mission computer systems for military aircraft. Additional growth areas include ground systems, encryption, electronic warfare, and X-Ray inspection systems. POC is headquartered in Torrance, CA.

To support current and future growth, POC is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our prestigious Corporate Operations Department with a great opportunity of career growth either in a technical field or technical management. The selected candidate will assume a technical leading role in the development, qualification and fielding of complex avionics that are compliant with military, commercial and aerospace industry requirements. This is a key position that would lead to increasingly critical technical leadership roles. The Senior Systems Engineer will report directly to the Corporate VP, Corporate Operations and the person will also have an opportunity to participate in the POC mentor program.

Key Responsibilities:

* Responsible for flow-downing, deriving, decomposing and tracing requirements to the appropriate engineering discipline for implementation.
* Responsible for managing preparing and writing engineering design documents and manage program test processes, such as engineering, qualification, acceptance, and ground and flight test.
* Responsible for managing design parameters, including reliability, maintainability, manufacturability, testability and risk and manage critical performance parameters, such as processing power, power consumption, size, and weight.

Experience Guidelines:

* A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering with 3 years of experience. Master's degree is preferred.
* Working knowledge of hardware and software design, integration, and testing (MIL-STD-810/461/464/704)
* Strongly desired expertise with DOORS
* Knowledgeable of DO178C (DAL B or higher)
* Experience with embedded systems with RTOS and Linux.
* Desired expertise in Information Assurance
