Job Description

Job Overview:

As a member of the marketing systems team, the Senior Systems Analyst, Analytic Systems will be an important link between business users, technology, and other contributors and point of contact for building a robust solution with the single goal of quick resolution, deep dives, root cause analysis, and process improvement. The Analysts function is detail intensive, requiring the accurate capture and translation of data requirements (both tactical and analytical needs) and validation/verification of the working solution.

Must be able to effectively collaborate and communicate with business partners (internal and external), marketing analysts, IT Developers, Project and Product Managers, and all levels of the business community. Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

* Participate in end-to-end solutions (Requirement gathering, planning, solutioning, development execution and documentation) for marketing systems.


* Work with customers to understand business challenges/ requirements for expected solutions.


* Translate high-level business requirements into actionable and achievable products.


* Clearly document requirements (business and technical).


* Participate in solution development process to ensure solution addresses all business requirements.


* Perform through data analysis to asses feasibility of building expected solution and outline limitations/call-outs.


* Provide guidance on data conversion/mapping decisions and responsible for data integrity.


* Ability to identify effective data visualization solutions to address business questions.


* Understand and document the underlying data elements, constraints, flows and sources supporting the business domain.


* Develop the process and supporting artifacts to organize information management into Source to Target Mapping documents, data dictionary, data lineage, and other supporting documents.


* Perform detailed data validation to ensure quality end product.


* Be the SME (subject matter expert) on macys.com business processes, data, marketing eco-system as well as data received from other sources.


* Ability to operate as a project coordinator and manage end to end project timeline by tracking activities across cross functional teams.


* Present status, milestones and issues to management and to other stakeholders related to assigned projects.



In addition, help analyze and solve day-to-day challenges with data and analytics/reporting systems, including

* Research data and systems issues.


* Resolve and/or prioritize issue resolution.


* Proactively identify data quality problems and support solution identification.


* Interpret highly complex physical and logical data models.


* Conduct testing and validation.


* Establish and coordinate user acceptance testing and plan.


* Deliver end-user training.


* Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.



Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

* Bachelor's degree in the field of Information systems, computer science, or equivalent experience required.


* 5 - 7 years as a Systems Analyst/Business Analyst/ ETL Developer.


* 4 plus years of experience in Software Development / System Analysis experience Strong SQL and Analytical skills (any programing languages / Shell Scripting, AWK, SED, ETL, Data import/export, Data Analysis, File processing, FTP process, Automation).


* Knowledge of Data models, Data Modeling (Relational and Dimensional), Data Profiling and working with large data warehouse environment.


* Ability to process and analyze complex data sets in Oracle/Hadoop/DB2 databases, and interpret them to make business decision.



Communication Skills:

* Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with Senior Management, Architects, Data Modelers, Data Visualization experts, and Developers.



Mathematical Skills:

* Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and analytical skills.



Reasoning Ability:

* Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound decisions.



Physical Demands:

* This position involves regular walking, standing, sitting for extended periods of time, hearing, and talking.


* May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.


* May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and viewing computer monitor for extended periods of time.


* Involves manual dexterity for using keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.


* May involve moving or lifting items under 10 pounds.



Other Skills:

* Self-starter with ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently in an efficient and effective manner with minimal supervision.


* Comfortable working independently to achieve successful results with minimal guidance.


* Strong prioritization and organizational skills.


* Possess an analytical mindset and demonstrable critical thinking skills.


* Adobe Analytics knowledge.


* Report building experience in tableau.
