Senior Software Systems Engineer

Job Description

Progeny Systems Corporation has an opening for a Software Systems Engineer to support defining and documenting the capabilities and architecture for Submarine Payload (Weapons and Unmanned Vehicle) command and control software for the Payload Control System.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Interact with program office and user communities to refine general capability desires into specific capability requirements.
* Work with Software Engineering team to identify and document appropriate software architecture to achieve required capabilities.
* Articulate capability requirements and architectural approach to customer community via DoD Program Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) events.
* Provide leadership and guidance to other systems and software engineers, as appropriate, to champion the development, testing, and delivery of new system capabilities.
* Provide input to the scheduling of program activities.

Skills/Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Experience with software system architectures, particularly those relevant to DoD environments.
* Previous software leadership experience and a willingness to collaborate with other team members to define new capabilities is a plus.
* Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to craft well-defined and testable requirements.
* Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.
* Ability to develop unit test procedures to verify software capabilities a plus.
* Knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
* Knowledge of IBM Rational DOORS, UML, Object Oriented design, Linux, Networking, Software Protocols, or Algorithms is a plus.

Education/Experience

* 5 to 15 years' experience in:
* Software system design
* Requirements Definition
* Software development a plus
* DOORS experience a plus
* Unmanned Vehicle Control software experience a plus
* AN/BYG-1 experience a plus
* BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, System Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent experience required.

This position requires the applicant to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
