Job Summary

Responsible for articulating customer needs and requirements to the development team and for providing insight or clarification when necessary. Responsible for creating User Stories, Features or Epics and identifying clear Acceptance Criteria. Responsible for prioritizing feature defects potentially affecting customers. The level of work required is advanced and staff must be able to work under minimal supervision. This job does not have direct reports.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

* Acts as the liaison between internal customers and technical groups to elicit customer business needs, to communicate these needs to the technical groups and to drive appropriate solutions
* Identifies alternative solutions and new feature opportunities
* Performs business and systems analysis, including current and future state, to determine requirements and breakdown features into user stories
* Identifies approaches for evaluating product success and communicate the criteria with various stakeholders
* Ensures the test plan is comprehensive and acceptance criteria are met through QA and intro production
* Develops functional specifications including user cases, process/workflow, error messages and interface specifications
* Manages the backlog containing stories and defects for the development team; modifies the backlog according to changing business needs and technical input
* Participates in the development of sprint planning and feature prioritization
* Manages functional production issues for features introduced into production, including problem identification and monitoring through resolution, using bug-tracking tools
* Responsible for identifying risks and leading mitigation strategies; communicates risk and mitigation processes to teams and stakeholders
* Provide product release overview and handoff to operations to ensure ongoing operational support
* Develop appropriate product training, manuals and documentation for internal users
* Communicates the health and quality of product releases to relevant stakeholders

Education and Experience

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
* 3-5 years of product management and/or business analyst experience

Knowledge and Skills

* Experience working with software development teams
* Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
* Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities
* Ability to lead and make decisions while balancing multiple projects
* Knowledge and application of project management and software development methodologies
* Experience with Agile software development methodology
