Job Description

Our mission is to help people see and understand their data, and the Visualization team is central to that mission. As part of the team you will be designing and developing features seen and used by tens of thousands of users every day in every visualization that Tableau produces. We make tools to make those visualizations beautiful, insightful, and informative - yet simple and easy to create.

Some of the things we'll be doing…

* Innovating in our core technologies to allow Tableau users to see, understand, and "reach out and touch" their data in new and interesting ways.
* Working in a highly collaborative environment to create new features from inception to launch.
* Improving and defining our internal systems, processes, documentation, and best practices to improve organizational performance and enable the team to deliver more delightful products to our customers more quickly.
* Refactoring existing code to support new development while maintaining and improving quality and functionality.

Who you are…

* Experienced. You have 5+ years working in large scale codebases using object oriented languages such as C++, C# or Java, you've grown your skills and look forward to learning more .
* Highly Technical. You are a seasoned developer and fluent in commonly used design patterns and agile development practices. You can constructively review the work of others to ensure high quality and adherence to best practices.
* Passionate. You love to write maintainable and understandable quality code and have a passion for solving complex problems. You write tests for your code as a way to maintain high quality. You understand what it takes to write software that is used by thousands, even millions, of people. You love products that "just work" - that are robust, scalable and perform well.
* Curious. You love to get to the root of the problem. You debug across codebases and languages to wherever the problem takes you.
* A True Team Player. You enjoy collaborating, learning from, and teaching others so we can all become better developers. You assume the best in others and actively do your part to create a positive work environment.
* Educated. You have a degree in Computer Science or a related field.
* You are a Recruiter! Tableau hires company builders and in this role you will be asked to be on the constant lookout for the best talent to bring onboard to help us continue to build one of the best companies in the world!
