Senior Software Engineer (Java)

Capital One is actively seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Java Developer) with expertise in detailed technical design and development of applications using existing and emerging technology platforms. This role will act as a Technical Lead on software development projects with responsibility for overall delivery of software components.

Capital One Financial Services Technology (#FSTECH) is housed in the heart of the "tech hub" that is Plano, Texas!

This is for a team with a true "start-up" mentality within Capital One's Auto Finance Dealer Services, which works on a lot of experimental and cutting-edge technologies. With an emphasis in new "from scratch" development with an ever-expanding scope of new products, you'll work with and introduce the latest technology tools and techniques daily. What You'll Do:

* Drive project/service delivery
* Lead software development projects with responsibility for overall delivery of software components
* Work with Product Managers to build the "right" software
* Collaborate with other platforms tech leads to ensure integrated end-to-end design
* Document design decisions and Enforcing existing process guidelines
* Follow best practices of Software Development
* A thirst to learn new technologies and passion to apply them to solve customer problems
* Mentor junior developers
* Embrace DevOps and YBYO (You Build You Own) model
* Conduct design & code reviews
* Monitor operating efficiency of existing application systems

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree or military experience
* At least 5 years' experience in Java development
* At least 3 years of experience in Spring framework (Core Spring or Spring Rest or Spring Boot)
* At least 3 years of experience in database development
* At least 2 years of experience in building RESTful APIs or Microservices
* At least 2 years of experience in Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's Degree in Computer Science or military experience
* 7+ years of experience in Java development
* 3+ years of experience in designing enterprise-scale applications (preferably Cloud Native)
* 3+ years of experience in relational databases (Oracle or MySQL or PostgreSQL)
* 3+ years of experience NoSQL databases (Cassandra or MongoDB)
* 2+ years of experience in Behavior Driven Development Gherkin (BDD)
* 2+ years of experience in AngularJS, Angular 2, 4, 5 or 6
* 1+ year of experience in Machine Learning
* Active Certification(s) in Sun Java Programming, Development, or Architecture
* Active Amazon Web Services (AWS) Certification(s)
