As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for providing support for overall design and development leadership to an application team as well as the utilization of web and cloud technologies, APIs, and third party software development frameworks to rapidly build and support basic application solutions.

You will be a technical leader in the Actuarial Financial Management systems space. Will be responsible for the development and implementation of technical requirements spanning enhancements, maintenance, and the migrations of data between systems. Will provide technical support for escalated Operational items and Production Support issues. Will partner across the organization to develop complete requirements that meet the needs of all users. Will understand, document, and enhance integration with related systems that includes reporting, calculations, analytics, and daily, monthly, and quarterly batch processing.Job Description

Responsibilities:

Working collaboratively with other development staff, including contract and offshore Software Engineers, and business product owners in an agile environment:

* Code, test, identify, implement, and document solutions to business challenges utilizing web and cloud technologies.
* Perform design and analysis for deliverables. Lead team design sessions for application level architecture solutions.
* Serve as a subject matter expert for a wide range of areas, applications, and technologies and mentor other team members in design/coding standards.
* Proactively recommend solutions which take into consideration costs, business needs, and system impacts.
* Support analysis and general architectural design across platforms toward the development of end-to-end solutions.
* Participate on committees or projects to help define organization-wide standards, processes, and guidelines.
* Utilize third-party software development frameworks, open-source libraries, and APIs to rapidly develop basic application solutions.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or technically related field, or equivalent education/experience.
* Minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience.
* 5+ years of software engineering experience with .NET or Java OOD.
* Strong background in SQL scripting, queries, and schemas.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related technical field with 3 years of experience is also acceptable.
* Demonstrated understanding of advanced analytics and machine learning concepts and technology implementations
* Understanding of big data and real time streaming analytics processing architecture.
* Familiarity with Spark and Hadoop with exposure to large data environments.
* Understanding of data warehousing architecture and implementation, including source to target mappings and ETL.
* Proficient in modern Design Patterns.
* Background working with the Actuarial business is a plus.

Working Conditions:

* Normal office environment.
* Minimal travel (less than 10%).
* Required to work outside normal business hours due to special projects or on-call situations.
