What you'll be doing…

The primary focus of this Staff IC position is to lead and coach a team of elite senior engineers with the charter to ensure that all customers have a delightful experience with the reliability and performance of Tableau Online. We take on key projects to mitigate customer and operational pain points, eventually handing off robust solutions to the right long term owners and then on to the next key challenge! Your work will directly improve the value of Tableau Online as customers see and understand their data. We are passionate about every aspect of our service quality and scalability and this position will provide many interesting, hard-core technical problems, executive sponsorship and as much responsibility as you can handle.

Some of the things you'll be doing include…

* Establish development and design patterns that enable the next generation of service infrastructure
* Drive the evolution of the system architecture
* Collaborate with a world-class engineering team to propose and develop features to solve recurring patterns of customer and operational pain points
* Do brown bags, deep dives and presentations to leadership and engineers in Tableau and conferences
* Develop self-serve frameworks to monitor the health, reliability and performance of Tableau Online

Who you are…

* 10+ years of professional software development experience
* Ability to articulate and set technical roadmaps
* Experience developing well architected, reusable core application code
* Experience implementing services in C++ or Java
* Knowledge of databases and data warehousing is a plus
* BSCS or equivalent
