Job Description

Etsy is looking for a Senior Engineer to join our growing Connections team. In this role you will work with engineers, product managers, and designers to help champion our mission to "Keep Commerce Human".

We oversee a number of high-traffic systems, including our messaging platform, reviews, and collections. Human connections are at the heart of what makes Etsy special, and our product team is focused on creating best-in-class tools that help our millions of buyers and sellers easily communicate and collaborate each day.

We primarily write in PHP and JavaScript as well as in Go and Java. Our product engineering teams have recently shipped projects like a unified and redesigned set of seller tools, a better recommendation and personalization experience for buyers, and a system to allow buyers and sellers to communicate more effectively about variations on their orders. About Location

Our engineers are concentrated in our Brooklyn HQ, but are located all over the US. We believe that open communication and effective teamwork can happen regardless of where you sit, and we'll provide you with tools to make sure that happens. Your laptop will come with our video conferencing software pre-installed, so you can always join in on meetings and catch up face-to-face with your team regardless of where in the world you or they are.

Who we're looking for

* You are comfortable working in both frontend and backend languages. We most frequently use PHP, MySQL, JavaScript (React, jQuery), HTML and CSS.
* You take the lead on directing and implementing solutions to loosely scoped problems.
* You collaboratively break down large tracks of work with reliable estimates of time, effort, and risk, and you help ensure your team can hit deadlines.
* You are generous with your time and foster an environment where people feel comfortable asking questions.
* You write clean, testable code with an eye towards maintainability.
* You are comfortable collaborating with product managers, designers and researchers to deliver impactful product features.
* You are an advocate for users, and are passionate about building a great product.
