Senior Software Engineer (Android)

Capital One is actively seeking a Software Engineer with expertise in detailed technical design and development of applications using existing and emerging technology platforms. Acting as a Technical Expert on software development projects with responsibility for overall delivery of software components.

Capital One Financial Services Technology (#FSTECH) is housed in the heart of the "tech hub" that is Plano, Texas!

This is for a team with a true "start-up" mentality within Capital One's Auto Finance Dealer Services, which works on a lot of experimental and cutting-edge technologies. With an emphasis in new "from scratch" development with an ever-expanding scope of new products, you'll work with and introduce the latest technology tools & techniques daily. We are passionate technologists who focus on building world-class solutions for our beloved customers!

Are you ready to build a "next-generation" product that aims to transform the auto industry?

What You'll Do:

* Develop Android client code solutions that deliver on Product Strategy and adhere to established engineering best practices, design guidelines and principles.
* Actively participate in all team scrum ceremonies and contributing to ensure that all team commitments are delivered on time and of the highest quality.
* Working to remain an active learner in all technologies related to Android development (Kotlin, Android SDK, Gradle, 3rd party libraries, Google developments etc.).
* Influence and contribute to extended mobile and API discussions and incorporate feedback/communication from broader team.
* Proactively engage with developers outside of the local sprint team across various disciplines (Android, iOS, APIs, Web, etc.)
* Demo your work (production app, proof of concepts, hacks, etc. ) to product owners and other mobile stakeholders
* Working with designers on refining our user experiences with an eye to Human Interface Guidelines and Material Design.
* Ability to detect and abstract common patterns in code.

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree or military experience
* At least 3 years of native Android development experience
* At least 3 years with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services
* At least 2 years of experience building native Android apps using Java
* At least 1 year of experience as a tech lead
* At least 1 year of experience building native Android apps using Kotlin
* Published at least one app to Google Play store

Preferred Qualifications:

* 1+ years of experience in design and developing Micro Services
* 1+ years of experience with Jenkins
* Possesses open source contributions
* Love writing tests (unit, functional, and integration) and worked with Android testing frameworks Expresso, Robolectric, Mockito
* Help build a team and cultivate innovation, and mentor and train other team members on design techniques, and coding standards
