Senior Software Engineer

Position Description: Perform software engineering to extend the capabilities of the Shared OMS and related system components to meet Staples' evolving business needs. Responsible for the design and development of: interface wrappers for external calls made into Sterling Commerce/Yantra platform; user exits for calls made from Sterling Commerce/Yantra platform to other systems; user interface extensions using the Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP); database extensions on an Oracle Database; and system solutions that support the order management lifecycle (e.g. order capture, order payment, etc.). Work directly with the technical leads and architects to ensure the system is implemented as designed and in adherence to the Shared OMS implementation guidelines. Partner with the business analysts to translate business requirements into core system capabilities. Partner with the QA team to ensure that applications are tested using full automation. Implement and enhance service stubs. Support business users during User Acceptance testing. Work with the Platform team and Shared OMS Support team to ensure that application is properly deployed and supported in production. Build and extend enterprise capabilities for services supported by the Shared OMS solution. Partner with the ESB team and create Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and mapping documents to ensure that the Shared OMS system is built in a service oriented manner.

Qualifications

Required Experience/Skills: Requires a Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Applications, or a directly related field plus two (2) years of overall technical experience.

Experience must include:

Two (2) years of experience in each of the following (experience may be gained concurrently):

* System/application design


* XML, and XSD

Demonstrate knowledge of the following (may be gained concurrently):


* Working with distributed and multi-tier software architecture and programming


* Java/JEE, SQL, and MQ


* Working on the Sterling Commerce OMS/MCF platform
