Job Description

Alexa Federated Ontology team's mission is to enable developers to define schema and ontologies to further delight our customers by making Alexa more intelligent and can have longer conversations. Core charter of this team is to build a platform for schema and ontology management, ML models for clustering and extending ontologies, tools and services to enable usage of a federated schema and ontology across Alexa so all teams can speak in same vocabulary when trying to understand user intent and entity recognition.

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for leading the development and launch of core product features to be used across several Alexa teams and skill developers. You will have significant influence on our overall strategy by helping define these product features, guide senior leadership to help drive business decisions, drive the system architecture, and spearhead the best practices that enable a quality product. You will build ML algorithms to automatically map catalog data schema to Alexa federated ontology, build ML models to identify/map new action/entity from catalog data and categorize entity types, build ontology tools for visualization, management, editing and validation of ontologies.

The ideal candidate is passionate about new opportunities and has a demonstrable track record of success in delivering new features and products. A commitment to teamwork, hustle, and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners) are absolute requirements. Creating reliable, scalable, and high performance products requires exceptional technical expertise, a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Science, and practical experience building large-scale distributed systems. This person has thrived and succeeded in dealing with ambiguity, delivering high quality technology products/services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift fast.
