We are currently seeking a dynamic Senior Software Developer based in our New York HQ. This position is an integral part of the Barneys New York web team with a strong operations component, the ideal candidate should be prepared to jump in and solve problems as they appear. There are different systems written in different software stacks, so flexibility and a desire to learn quickly are a must. Our web site is run on an Oracle Commerce platform (also known as ATG), which is Java-based (Java coding is a requirement). This job includes building tools to help us manage our workflow and data.

Responsibilities and Duties

* Manage and support in production several tools and platforms, notably including our Product Information Management (PIM) system Stibo MDM.


* Support web technology tools, including Adobe Analytics, Scene7, Maxymiser (A/B testing tool).


* Co-ordinate with the business team to determine the needs and write business logic in PIM using Java and Javascript.


* Define the data model and references in PIM based on business requirements.


* Develop, implement and optimize the stored procedures and functions using SQL.


* Develop APIs in Java to integrate with external third-party systems.


* Write Unix Shell scripts and create cron jobs.


* Define eVars, props, and events for various functionalities on the website for Analytics.


* Develop javascript methods to implement third-party tags on to the website through Adobe DTM.


* Develop content through HTML/CSS for personalized experience on Maxymiser.

Qualifications and Skills

* At least 5 years experience in software development.


* Substantial experience with the web stack. While this is primarily a back-end oriented position, some ability to code web pages and javascript is required.


* Good java coding skills.


* Familiarity with Unix operating systems, including writing shell scripts


* Experience with RDBMS and SQL.


* Experience with web technologies, such as those listed above, will be a plus.


* Oracle Commerce experience will be a strong plus.


* Experience in online retail helpful, but not a requirement.
