Key Position Details
The Data Science and Transformation team is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented, and process-driven ETL/BI developer who wants a challenging position to showcase their skills. Qualified candidates should possess 3+ years of professional experience as an ETL developer. The selected candidate will be part of the Data Operations team of developers responsible for activities related to corporate reporting in GEICOs Big Data environment.
Creation of Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) data load scripts.
Develop, test, integrate and deploy scripts using ETL tools and external programming/scripting languages as necessary.
Analyze and interpret data on all systems and provide solutions to all data issues.
Coordinate with analysts to validate requirements.
Document all technical and system specifications for all ETL processes.
Perform Unit Tests on all ETL processes.
Perform Root cause analysis of all production issues.
Prepare and present ideas and recommendations to colleagues and management.
TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
3+ years of experience in Data Warehousing and Data Marts
3+ years of experience with ETL design, development, and performance optimization with SSIS
Strong SQL Skills
At least 1 year of scripting experience, preferably Python, Perl, or Shell scripting
Some exposure to Object Oriented Programming using Java
Some exposure to Hadoop Eco System (Oozie, Hive, Spark)
Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
NON-TECHNICAL SKILLS DESIRED:
Ability to think critically and be solution-oriented.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision as well as contribute to team efforts
Great time management, organizational and problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal skills and able to work easily with others.
Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment
Excellent verbal/written communication skills, including communicating technical issues to non-technical audiences
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create and execute test plans. Document assumptions, methodologies and validation techniques.
Participate in 24x7 on call support for key processes and data.
