Senior Production Support Specialist - Unix, Cloud

As a Senior Production Support Specialist at Capital One you can accomplish these things and more in one of the largest, most analytically sophisticated banks in the world.

Capital One's digital experiences are powered by platforms that have a very high bar for performance and resiliency. As a Senior Production Support Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating production support activities for Capital One's digital developer and data platform. You will be proactive in early detection of issues and diligent in ensuring that the right stakeholders are engaged to resolve the issues. You will work with stakeholders to analyze root cause of issues and publish findings to leadership, along with recommendations. Your role is critical to elevating the level of operations of the platform. As an essential member of the team, your responsibilities involve a deep technical understanding of architecture and environments supported. You will also create automation tools to continuously improve platform support and operations.

Responsibilities of a Senior Production Support Specialist consist of:

* Be the key point of contact for Support Requests that may be raised through automated alerts or user requests.


* Troubleshooting problems, engaging the appropriate resources and addressing issues as quickly as possible


* Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and recommend solutions to prevent recurrence.


* Work with Site Reliability Engineers and develop automation to elevate the level of operations for the Platform.


* Continuous improvement on KPIs - Mean Time To Detect (MTTD) and Mean Time To Resolve (MTTR).


* Evangelize Platform standards and best practices with federated development teams


* Create Dashboards for platform operations and metrics



Basic Qualifications:

* High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent Certification


* At least 3 years of IT experience with distributed web applications and APIs


* At least 2 years of experience in infrastructure and application support in Cloud environment


* At least 1 year of experience in Networking



Preferred Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology


* 2+ years of experience supporting highly available platforms in Cloud environment


* 2+ years of full stack software development experience


* 1+ years of experience in UNIX


* 1+ years of experience with Splunk, Datadog or New Relic monitoring and alerting


* Excellent interpersonal, relationship and negotiating skills


* Ability to multi-task and manage multiple active issues
