Position Summary

The goal of our Design team is to create practical, useful, and beautiful design-centric products. As the first Senior UX Designer on our team, you will collaborate with both technical and non-technical members of the Expanse community to achieve this goal.

You will help shape Expanse's future by envisioning, designing, and delivering new products and features. Your projects will vary widely day-to-day; you will be exposed to - and have a chance to own - every part of product design and you will be able to impact our design processes as the company continues to scale. We're looking for an empathetic, user-focused designer who puts users' needs in the center of all phases of design: from planning, to research, to prototyping, and user testing.

This position reports to the Director of Design in San Francisco and is part of a growing team leading product design across the company.

What You'll Do

* Define new products, features, and experiences for the next generation of Expanse's enterprise products
* Be a creative problem solver who asks the right questions to explore problem areas, consider problems from different angles, and look for opportunities to develop new ideas within the role
* Own the design process from research, ideation, design, though delivery with opportunities to shape the product roadmap with your work
* Gather, evaluate, and define user requirements, in collaboration with product managers, field, and engineering
* Apply an array of design techniques including information architecture, user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that lead to an intuitive user experience
* Validate design and product effectiveness by using a variety of testing techniques
* Continue to grow as a designer by staying on top of current trends and pushing the edges of design
* Help develop and maintain a design pattern library and best practices
* Co-facilitate design thinking sessions with product and design leads and help conduct other research processes
* Collaborate with designers and front end engineers in Expanse's downtown San Francisco office

About You

* You have experience in UX design in enterprise technology
* You bring knowledge in UX software, such as Sketch, Axure, InVision, Zeplin, Balsamiq, and Framer
* You are comfortable with ambiguity and input ; not knowing the answer doesn't bother you and it is finding the answer that excites you, even if that means failing
* You take pride in consistently delivering usable, beautiful, and inspiring product features
* You are familiar with customer frameworks such as Jobs to be Done, personas, use cases, mood boards, happy paths, and journey maps
* You are comfortable working in an agile design and development environment
* You can share a portfolio or PDF of relevant design work with us
* Bonus if you have worked in enterprise networking or security products
