Responsibilities:

Verisign is currently looking for a Sr. Manager of Database Engineering with primary focus on Oracle R12 E-Business Suite (EBS) and Oracle BI platform databases. Oracle EBS and BI are key components of Verisign's Financial and HR systems architecture. All of the company's Financial and HR data flows through these systems, which consist of Oracle delivered modules and extensive customizations.

The Sr. Manager - Database Engineering manages on-site DBA team that provides 24x7 system administration support and is responsible for the installation, configuration, upgrade, administration, monitoring and maintenance of corporate applications on-premise databases. Responsibilities also include improving database performance, capacity and planning for future expansion requirements and coordinating and implementing security measures to safeguard the database and code deployment. Additionally, this position ensures system stability across platforms and builds an effective team by recruiting, hiring and mentoring skilled database engineers.

* Oversees and reviews systems administration activities to ensure consistency and quality. These activities include installation, configuration, upgrade, administration, monitoring and maintenance of our corporate applications on-premise databases. Improves database performance, capacity and plans for future expansion requirements while coordinating and implementing security measures to safeguard the database and code deployment.
* Provides technical leadership in the areas of operational process, change, configuration and incident management and documentation guidelines. Manages and monitors critical processes by enforcing proper security measures to protect company data.
* Provides technical oversight and direction to the team to ensure project goals, objectives, milestones and deliverables are met; facilitates team and department meetings to reach decisions effectively. Develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the team. Responsible for SOX/SOC and any audit compliance & controls.
* Provides backend infrastructure oversight support by monitoring database performance and manages parameters to provide fast query responses to front-end users, automating process as much as possible.
* Work with a cross-section of internal IT organizations, technical systems analysts and developers, outside consultants, vendors as well as internal management teams.
* Participate in regular database capacity planning related to database growth and system utilization, trend analysis and predicting future database resource requirements. Prepare for database expansion by studying plans and requirements and advise senior management.

Qualifications:

* 4 Year Bachelors' degree. Masters' degree preferred in Computer Science and Technology.
* 10-15 years of related database engineering experience required including:
* Oracle EBS R12.2, Databases, Middleware, WebLogic upgrades and patching
* Oracle BI (Datawarehouse, OBIEE, OBIA, Hyperion, Essbase) administration
* Database Engineering including Oracle RDBMS 11g, 12c and above
* System monitoring tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
* Shell Scripting, Performance Tuning, Capacity Planning, Backup & Recovery, Decommissioning
* OAM/OID/SSO Integration with Microsoft AD
* High availability architecture including Oracle Standby with data guard, Oracle RAC, RMAN, PCP configurations
* Disaster recovery planning, implementation, routine testing
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with credibility at all levels of the organization.
* Responsive to customer needs and highly motivated to improve the skills and capabilities of his/her organization.
* Mobile platform development for Apple devices is a plus.
* Strong knowledge and understanding of diverse business tools and technologies.
* Ability to deliver a project from ideation through implementation using defined controls.
* Ability to analyze, consolidate and communicate technical concepts to all levels effectively in verbal and written form.
* Considerable knowledge of project management methodologies, experience working in Agile environment and exposure to SCRUM Tools and methodology.
