Job Description:

As a Senior Linux Application Support Engineer, you will work within an ITIL environment and be accountable for one or more of the following: incident management, change management, impact identification, management communication, client relationship management, service improvement, discovery/gathering/documenting of business needs and requirements, complex internal/external customer file implementations.

Responsibilities:

* Work with key stakeholders to ensure that overall business and goals for delivering technology-based services are met
* Function as a Service Delivery manager to communicate with key stakeholders regarding system outages, issue resolution, infrastructure changes, and other pertinent matters that impact internal and external customers
* Work with project teams resources to ensure environment readiness prior to planned turnover dates
* Identify process gaps and streamline processes for efficiency
* Plan, coordinate, and manage lower (non-prod DEV, IST, and QA) environment sync ups prior to and post releases
* Build relationships with project teams to promote partnerships
* Understand infrastructure changes and how they impact downstream systems and environments.
* Drive root cause analysis of incidents.
* Responding to direct and indirect inquiries based on existing and emerging SLAs.

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.


* Demonstrated and strong experience working with software engineering infrastructure, setup and deployment
* Strong knowledge of infrastructure/environment components (middleware, policy servers, monitoring, environmental properties) and the integration into application architecture
* Extensive experience with Linux required; experience with AIX, Apache Tomcat, WebSphere, or other like technologies strongly preferred
* Familiarity with SQL Database interface and tooling
* Experience with Splunk and similar monitoring tools
* Web software engineering experience with ability to read, understand, and modify code (code-competency) for diagnosis, escalation and resolution
* Knowledge of troubleshooting tools and techniques related to networks and systems i.e. remote access tools, Linux Support tools, connectivity tests, etc
* Understanding of n-Tier application architecture concepts
* General understanding of various IT security concepts as they relate to application environments
* Provide excellent customer service within defined SLAs
* Experience using Jenkins or Jenkins-like tools
* Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
* Demonstrated experience with Powerpoint, Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project.
* Preferred Qualifications:
* Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn new technology.
* Ability to create application architectural logical and physical diagrams.
* Familiarity with Git/Bitbucket, Jenkins, Puppet, Team City, and Atlassian tools a plus.
* Familiarity with AWS services like S3, Amazon Glacier, Amazon Search, and Amazon RDS a plus.
* Experience supporting applications in shared or virtual environments.
