General Summary/Overview Statement:

The Sr. Analyst designs and performs statistical analyses to support several divisional investigators on a variety of projects examining medical events that influence health outcomes. These analyses require the use of several large datasets. The Sr. Analyst is responsible for creating, maintaining, and analyzing the data for these research projects, as well as guiding and advising divisional programmers working on other research projects. The Sr. Analyst oversees the integrity of analytic databases while working closely with the project investigators. The Sr. Analyst ensures that the project is proceeding according to plan and develops recording systems assuring that the flow of data is tracked in an accurate and timely fashion.

The most difficult aspects of this position involve applying the appropriate statistical methods to research questions. Conceptualization of these analyses may be challenging and involve hierarchical models or repeated measures design. The Sr. Analyst is responsible for checking the accuracy and reliability of the data analyses. This position is per diem.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

* Conducts sophisticated statistical analyses and collaborates with clinicians and senior statisticians in developing models and writing abstracts and manuscripts.
* Writes complex programs using SAS® as well as other statistical and analytical software packages and languages including UNIX and SQL. Ensure code is re-usable for subsequent analyses.
* Creates new datasets from MS Access databases and MS Excel spreadsheets.
* Oversees data cleaning.
* Works collaboratively with research teams to support project design, development and implementation activities.
* Oversees the data collection from collaborators.
* Develops data entry forms, programs and dataset creation.
* Manages multiple projects simultaneously and resolves difficulties in coordination of data with multiple sources.
* Develops and presents macro programs implementing complex statistical algorithms to be used by clinical researchers.
* Prepares data for manuscripts and presentations.
* Provides the division with information about up-to-date technology producing the most efficient data management systems.
* Documents programming and data management issues.
* Performs other duties and responsibilities at the supervisor's request.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree Master's preferred in health sciences related field, preferably biostatistics or epidemiology.
* 3-5 years in a programmer/analyst position in the healthcare environment required.
* Experience with data analysis methodologies and the ability to create and interpret data displays.
* Experience with construction of tables and graphs.
* Experience overseeing data collection.
* Experience with REDCap, MS Access and MS Excel.
* Strong knowledge of SAS programming, statistical computing and statistical analyses required.
* Experience with hierarchical models highly desirable.
* Must be deadline oriented, be able to multi-task, and communicate effectively.

Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required:

* Experience w/SAS required.
* · Experience with REDCap, MS Access and MS Excel.
* Excellent communication skills-both oral and written.
* Must be able to work independently and display initiative to introduce innovations to research studies.
* Demonstrated statistical/analytical and reasoning skills to perform high level problem solving.
* Has thorough understanding of analysis, coding, testing and project methodologies.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to take initiative, embrace challenges and develop creative solutions.
* High level of confidentiality must be maintained.
